Top 9 Search Engines 2022-2023

Search engines are now a part of our everyday lives, whether we're looking for Christmas gifts, the nearest coffee shop open before 7 a.m., or the greatest steakhouse in town. People are increasingly relying on search engines to get answers to their everyday questions. At Inspire, we use a number of statistics to track our search traffic.

The majority of the inquiries we received were linked to what we do, while some were simply strange. Those we're interested in are those that relate to the services we provide, such as enhancing search rankings, site design, web development, and many more.

Top 9 Search engines in 2022-2023

Despite our use of "all routes to market," we are still largely reliant on search engines for our bread and butter business.

We recently completed a piece of work for a customer trying to enter the Russian market; they'd spoken with various organizations, all of whom offered information about what they'd do on Google and how much of an expert they are. This utterly missed the point because Yandex is the biggest search engine in Russia, not Google!!!

This made me realize that perhaps many have believed that because Google is a major global player, they are likewise dominating in every market.

As a result, we felt it would be good to provide a rundown of the rest of the Globe, so let's have a look at the top 10 search engines in the world.

1. Google

Google is without a doubt the most popular search engine, accounting for more than 70% of the search market share. Furthermore, Google accounts for about 85 percent of mobile traffic. Because of the high traffic potential, Google is a viable option for capturing organic or paid search traffic; the downside, of course, is that almost everyone is competing for the same traffic.

Furthermore, new updates to Google's algorithm, such as highlighted snippets, attempt to meet users' demands directly on Google, eliminating the need for them to visit any links. These developments, along with Google's prominence, may make it difficult for you to get the website visitors you desire.

2. YouTube

YouTube was started in 2005 by PayPal veterans and was acquired by none other than Google little over a year later, giving it control over the top two search engines on this list.

YouTube attracts over 2 billion logged-in users every month and serves over 1 billion hours of video to viewers each day (yes, billion). The first video published (with over 41 million views) is a 19-second film of co-founder Jawed Karim at the zoo. It wasn't like MTV's "Video Killed The Radio Star," but it did the job.

As with Google, the attractiveness of such large traffic is clear to understand, but it's also a trap for advertisers. If successful, the importance of using YouTube as a traffic vehicle cannot be overstated.

However, with over 500 hours of video added to YouTube every minute, it can be difficult to stand out. It can also be costly to compete on that front with paid chances through the Google Ads system.

That being said, if you can capture the attention of your target audience on YouTube with excellent campaigns like those by Geiko or Blendtec, you can receive incredible visibility for a little cost.

3. Amazon

Amazon was founded in 1995, making it one of the first significant corporations to offer things online. They began by selling books online, but quickly grew. Jeff Bezos, the company's founder, was named Time's Person of the Year in 1999 for popularizing and making online buying accessible.

Amazon is so successful that last year, over half of all online retail queries began at Amazon rather than Google (22 percent) (49 percent ). When you combine this with their acquisition of Whole Items, which provides them access to fresh foods, you can bet that this figure will continue to rise. Anyone interested in a Bluetooth adaptor to go with their organic avocado?

As with Google, the advantages are apparent — scale. If you sell blue widgets and want to be seen when people search for them, you should be on Amazon.

In fact, based on the numbers, some may argue that having a ton of great and useful content may help you rank on Google and get all those people trying to figure out what blue widgets are and which one they need, but unless you're on Amazon, you won't be where they are when they're looking to convert.

The disadvantage is that competition is severe, price and other information are simple to compare vs. rival items, and the cost of selling there can be rather high at times.

If you don't have a distinctive product, entering early might be tough, as sales and reviews are vital for rankings. Similarly, well-established enterprises with strong products and reputations may keep their rankings. There are additional pay-per-click (PPC) solutions for product advertising. It can be expensive, but you're also getting the searcher at the purchase end of the cycle, which is something that every engine does.

It's too soon to know how Alexa will affect searches and purchases, but this is an area to keep an eye on. To prepare for the possibility that Amazon wins (or does well in the personal assistant competition), the third piece below goes into further detail.

4. Facebook

Facebook (as we know it now) was founded in 2006. It was solely accessible to students until 2004, when it was made available to the rest of the world. It's hardly the first thing that comes to mind when you think about search engines. However, it has topped 2 billion searches per day, surpassing Microsoft Bing.

With over 1.62 billion logged-in visitors per month, Facebook also provides businesses and advertisers with incredible market access and tends to be where people are when they're not working (current company excluded obviously), which means they may be in a better position to follow their nose and get sidetracked by your offering if it's of interest.

Do you want to introduce a new product?

Get your new ebook in front of a group of SEO specialists that aren't necessarily looking for "seo ebook"? Facebook provides a great deal of freedom in this area. While their organic reach has declined drastically in recent years, Facebook may still be a reliable source of unpaid traffic. This includes guaranteeing brand loyalty and constant content production, as consistent interaction is the key to ranking organically.

5. Bing Microsoft

In 2009, Bing replaced MSN Search as Microsoft's alternative to Google. Starting with just 8.4 percent of the search market share, they swiftly surpassed 10 percent, and in an agreement later that year to power Yahoo search, they increased their share to 28.1 percent. In 2016, they added AOL to the list of sites for whom they give search results. With these features, they become a legitimate challenger, and their market share is already approaching 25.7 percent across all Microsoft products and properties.

Bing has been making a lot of moves in the advertising arena in an attempt to catch up with Google, introducing a number of features to Microsoft Ads - but they are all in an effort to play catch up or put their system in line with Google's for import convenience and manageability.

While Microsoft Bing does not have the market share that Google has, it is respectable in several regions, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Though their algorithms aren't as complex as Google's, they're making significant strides in the AI sector.

This difference in sophistication makes them simpler to comprehend, forecast, and optimize for. While this will not remain the case indefinitely, it is likely to be the case in the near future.

Because of the reduced traffic, there are fewer SEO professionals contending for the top 10 places and learning the algorithms, resulting in a strong ROI for those that do.

There are less complicated ad systems to deal with. The lower the cost is due to the lower volume and simplicity of implementation from current Google Ads campaigns.

Though, based on my experience, I must caution that their comprehension of close variations would be ridiculous if it didn't cost so much money.

Aside from that, the ROI on Microsoft Bing is frequently higher, despite the lesser number of conversions.

This is not to argue that you should just duplicate your Google Ads campaigns into Microsoft Ads and call it a day. Each engine's CPC and demographics must be controlled separately (resulting in different conversion rates, etc.). Copying campaigns, on the other hand, may significantly speed up the setup process.

6. Yahoo

Yahoo and Bing compete with each other more than with Google. According to a recent analysis on netmarketshare.com, Yahoo has a 7.68 percent market share. Although they are a market leader in terms of free email, they have now admitted that User Details and Passwords were stolen last year.

7. DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo is a prominent search engine that is recognized for respecting its customers' privacy. In contrast to Ask.com, they are transparent about who they utilize to create search results; they have partnerships with Yahoo, Bing, and Yummly. It was formed in 2008 in California by Gabriel Weinberg, and its revenue is derived from the Yahoo-Bing search alliance network and Affiliates.

8. Ask

Ask.com, with.35 of search traffic, is unquestionably a more modest alternative when compared to the likes of Bing and Yahoo!. Nonetheless, Ask.com, previously Ask Jeeves, is distinguished by its question-and-answer structure.

While Google powers the majority of Ask.com's sponsored search results, Ask has its own algorithm that prioritizes knowledge over popularity. Furthermore, Ask.com has certain distinctive features, such as "smart replies," which employ natural language to respond to a search query.

9. Baidu
